Man sentenced for fatal drunk driving crash in AlbuquerqueALBUQUERQUE, NM - A man was sentenced for causing a fatal accident in Albuquerque in 2022, KOB reports. Matthew Shetima-Joe pleaded no contest to charges of drunk driving and vehicular homicide in connection with the wreck. Authorities said Shetima-Joe was drunk behind the wheel and speeding when he went through a red light and collided with another vehicle at Wyoming Boulevard and Osuna Road. The accident killed the other driver, 21-year-old Victor Sandoval.

Authorities said 42-year-old Nicole Vargas was driving under the influence when the accident happened in the area of Wyoming Boulevard and Marquette Avenue. Vargas crashed into another car, seriously injuring a two-year-old girl in the other vehicle.
