Man sentenced for fatal drunk driving crash at Albuquerque home

ALBUQUERQUE, NM - A man will be heading to prison for a drunk driving accident that killed an Albuquerque homeowner in late 2023, KRQE reports.

A judge sentenced 53-year-old Mark Castello to 10 years in prison for the Dec. 28 crash at Eubank Boulevard NE and Indiana School Road NE.  Authorities said Castello was drunk behind the wheel when he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a home at that location, causing a parked car to go into the house.

A man watching television in the home's living room, 74-year-old Bryan Peterson, was killed in the collision.

Castello was charged with homicide by vehicle.  Along with the prison term, the judge imposed five-years suspended to be served on probation.
