RIO RANCHO, NM - Police were dispatched to a serious motorcycle accident in Rio Rancho on Monday afternoon, reports the Rio Rancho Observer.
Responding officers determined that a motorcycle rider was heading south on New Mexico 528 when the crash occurred at about 3:50 p.m. The motorcycle struck the median just before Rockaway Boulevard, causing the bike and the rider to tumble.
The rider, a male, was flown to the UNM Trauma center with injuries described as life-threatening. New Mexico 528 was closed for the crash response and investigation, with southbound traffic reopening about 90 minutes later.
