Man arrested following Albuquerque crash with kids in carALBUQUERQUE, NM - A man is facing charges after police said he crashed in Albuquerque last week with his children in the car, according to KRQE. Police said Isaiah Vasquez was driving south on 2nd Street Wednesday at about 12:30 p.m. when he fishtailed and crashed into a barrier adjacent to Interstate 40. Witnesses reported seeing a man, a woman and two children run from the scene.

Woman injured when fleeing driver hits her vehicle in Santa FeSANTA FE, NM - Authorities said a suspect being pursued by police crashed into the vehicle of another driver in Santa Fe on Sunday, leaving her critically injured. According to the Santa Fe New Mexican, Española officers attempted a traffic stop on 20-year-old Joseph Lovato following a reported kidnapping but he took off at high speeds. Police said Lovato drove at speeds of up to 120 miles per hour while heading into Santa Fe on U.S. 84-285. The suspect eventually crashed into an SUV at the intersection of St. Francis Drive and Paseo de Peralta at about 3:39 p.m. The driver of the SUV, Beverly Heden, was hospitalized with injuries reported to be life-threatening.

Pickup truck crashes in Las Cruces following pursuitLAS CRUCES, NM - A pickup truck crashed in Las Cruces, New Mexico Tuesday morning following a pursuit that originated in Texas, KFOX reports. Authorities said the incident began when a Texas Department of Safety trooper set out in pursuit of a Nissan Titan with over 10 people inside. The vehicle was followed by troopers and border patrol from a street in northwest El Paso onto Interstate 10 westbound. The driver of the pickup crossed over the state line and eventually crashed in the area of S. Main Street and Selway Road in the Mesilla Park neighborhood.

The crash happened at I-25 northbound at Coal Avenue, according to a tweet from ABQ Traffic posted at 9:11 a.m. There were no immediate reports of injuries but the left lane of the interstate was closed while crews responded, slowing traffic through the area.

Woman killed in crash on I-25 after swerving to avoid water heaterALBUQUERQUE, NM - A driver was killed in a collision with another vehicle on Interstate 25 Sunday morning, according to a news release from New Mexico State Police. A State Police officer responded to the scene on I-25 north at Montano Road at about 8 a.m. An investigation determined that the driver of a 2002 Buick Century was headed north when she encountered a water heater laying in the roadway.

Man sentenced for crash that injured Albuquerque police officerALBUQUERQUE, NM - A man has been sentenced to prison for a car accident last year that injured an Albuquerque police officer, reports KRQE. 28-year-old Vaughn Stands was charged with DWI with great bodily harm for the incident that occurred in June 2022. Stands crashed into a car driven by Officer Josh Montano in the area of Eagle Ranch Road and Irving Boulevard. Montano, who was on his way home from a shift at the time, reported seeing Stands drive through a red light prior to the collision. The suspect was also believed to have been driving well over the speed limit.

Rollover accident blocks lanes on I-40 in Sedillo Hill areaBERNALILLO COUNTY, NM - The Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office issued a traffic alert Saturday night due to a rollover accident on Interstate 40. Deputies responded to the scene on eastbound I-40 between mile marker 182 and 183 in Sedillo Hill, the BCSO said in a tweet shortly after 9:30 p.m. The sheriff's office said both occupants of the vehicle were being evaluated and no life threatening injuries were reported.

Pedestrian struck, killed in Albuquerque hit-and-runALBUQUERQUE, NM - Police in Albuquerque are investigating a hit-and-run incident that killed a pedestrian Friday night, reports the Albuquerque Journal. The accident happened on Zuni Road SE in the vicinity of Dallas Street in the International District just before midnight. Police said the pedestrian was in the roadway and was hit by a westbound sedan. The victim was pronounced dead after being taken to an area hospital.
