Woman killed by hit-and-run driver on SW side of Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS, IN - Indianapolis police are investigating a deadly hit-and-run incident that occurred on Wednesday night, reports WRTV.

It happened on the city's southwest side, where a woman walking north on South Lynhurst Drive was hit by a vehicle near West Kelly Street at about 8:30 p.m.  The woman was pronounced dead after being taken to an area hospital.

The driver involved did not stop to help after the crash and fled the scene.

Police are now searching for the vehicle, which was believed to have been a blue Toyota sedan that may have front-end damage.

Anyone with further information or video of the incident was asked to contact the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department or Crime Stoppers.
