SANTA FE, NM - An Albuquerque woman was convicted last week on all charges fot a fatal accident that occurred on Interstate 25 in March 2022, KOB reported.
A jury found 49-year-old Jeannine Jaramillo guilty for the wrong-way crash that left two people dead. Prosecutors said Jaramillo faked her own kidnapping and led police on a chase while driving a Chevrolet Malibu on I-25. As she headed south in the northbound lanes, Santa Fe Police Officer Robert Duran, 43 and retired Las Vegas, New Mexico firefighter Frank Lovato, 62, crashed into each other and were killed.
Jaramillo was convicted of first-degree felony murder, great bodily injury by vehicle, aggravated fleeing a law enforcement officer, and several other charges.
She faces life in prison when she is sentenced on Thursday.
