INDIANAPOLIS, IN - A woman was struck and killed in downtown Indianapolis Tuesday morning in what is being reported as a hit-and-run incident.
According to WRTV, the victim was hit by a vehicle shortly before 8 a.m. in the vicinity of North Illinois Street and West Michigan Street. Police officers arrived to find the woman in the roadway with trauma injuries, and she was pronounced dead.
The driver involved left the scene before police arrived. Several streets in the area were blocked off to traffic for the accident response.
The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is in charge of the investigation.
