ALBUQUERQUE, NM - A woman is facing multiple charges in connection with a fatal accident in Albuquerque on Sunday night, reports KOB.
A total of five vehicles were involved in the wreck, which occurred in the area of Lomas Boulevard and 2nd Street NW shortly before 7:30 p.m.
Police said Nikole Zamora was driving an SUV east on Lomas Boulevard when she sped through a red light at 2nd Street and collided with a northbound car on 2nd that had the green light.
The impact caused the other car to then hit three vehicles that were stopped for a red light on westbound Lomas Boulevard. The driver of the second vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in that vehicle was hospitalized in critical condition.
Investigators said they retrieved data indicating that Zamora was driving at 70 miles per hour in a 30 miles per hour zone at the time of the collision, and a witness reported seeing her allegedly speed through three different red lights prior to the crash.
Zamora faces charges that include homicide by vehicle, great bodily hard by vehicle, and reckless driving.
