LAS CRUCES, NM - New details have been released by New Mexico State Police regarding a fatal accident that occurred in Las Cruces on Friday afternoon.
According to a KTSM report, the person killed in the crash was identified as 35-year-old Josie Cardona of El Paso. NMSP were called to the scene on Interstate 10 West near mile marker 140 at about 4 p.m.
State Police learned that the driver of a semi-truck rear-ended a passenger vehicle in a construction zone, causing a chain-reaction crash that involved two passenger vehicles and two semis.
Cardona was the driver of the car that was initially rear-ended by the truck, and was pronounced dead at the scene.
NMSP are continuing to investigate the cause of the wreck.
