Traffic backed up for miles due to crash on Interstate 865 west

BOONE COUNTY, IN - Major traffic delays were reported in Boone County during Thursday evening's commute due to a crash on Interstate 865.

According to an advisory from WIBC Traffic at 5:04 p.m., the accident occurred on westbound I-865 between the Interstate 465 interchange and Interstate 65. Backups stretched over two miles long as the ramps from I-465 to I-865 were shut down.

Drivers on westbound I-465 were forced to exit onto southbound I-465 instead of continuing to westbound I-865.
