SCOTT, IN - Indiana State Police said a tow truck driver died following an accident on the Indiana Toll Road in LaGrange County on Thursday morning.
According to details reported by WISH, the incident happened in the area of County Roads 700 West and 675 West north of Scott.
The tow truck driver was parked on the inside shoulder at about 9:40 a.m. after responding to a previous crash involving a semi-truck that caused a diesel spill. State Police said the driver of a Dodge Ram pulling a trailer lost control, went through a median, and sideswiped the tow truck. The Dodge then hit the tow truck driver and the semi.
The tow truck driver, 63-year-old Martin Troyer of Sturgis, Michigan, was killed in the wreck. A worker involved in cleaning the spill sustained injuries that were not life-threatening.
State Police are continuing to investigate the incident, and do not believe drugs or alcohol were contributing factors. Traffic was blocked through the area while police and cleanup crews worked the scene.
