Teenage girl injured in Santa Fe crash blamed on street racing

SANTA FE, NM - A 16-year-old girl was injured in a crash attributed to street racing, according to police in Santa Fe.

A report by the Santa Fe New Mexican states that the incident occurred Sunday evening on Airport Road on the city's south side. 

Police said 21-year-old Isaac Padilla of Santa Fe was racing another driver when he lost control of his vehicle and collided with another car, causing his vehicle to roll over.  A girl riding with Padilla was taken to a hospital in Albuquerque with a severe leg injury.

Police said the teen had tried to persuade Padilla not to race.  He is now facing criminal charges in connection with the incident.
