LAS CRUCES, NM - Police said they have identified the victim of a fatal rollover accident in Las Cruces earlier this month.
A press release from the Las Cruces Police Department stated that the woman killed in the incident was 24-year-old Sheila Nava of Las Cruces.
The incident occurred Feb. 13 at the intersection of Griggs Avenue and Hermosa Street at about 3:20 p.m. Traffic investigators believe Nava, driving a Chevrolet Trailblazer, went through a stop sign while going south on Hermosa Street. The Chevrolet was struck broadside by a Chevrolet Impala going west on Griggs Avenue.
The Trailblazer rolled over and Nava, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene. The Impala driver, a 22-year-old woman, was not seriously injured.
No charges or traffic citations are expected to be filed in the incident, police said.
