Pickup truck driver dies after crashing into tree in Kent County

KENT COUNTY, MI - The Kent County Sheriff's Office has released details of a fatal wreck that occurred on Saturday morning.

WZZM reports the crash took place on Flat River Drive near Vergennes Avenue in Vergennes Township at about 7 a.m. According to the sheriff's office, a man was behind the wheel of a 1994 Chevy pickup truck when the vehicle went off the roadway.

The pickup collided with a tree, killing the driver. Authorities said the victim was an 18-year-old Saranac man. No one else was in the vehicle.

The accident remains under investigation by the sheriff's office.
