Passenger injured when vehicle crashes into ditch in Cass County

CASS COUNTY, MI - One person was injured when a vehicle crashed in Cass County on Saturday afternoon, ABC57 reported.

The incident occurred in Calvin Township at about 4:10 p.m. According to the Cass County Sheriff's Office, a driver was going too fast for the road conditions while heading south on Union Road. The driver, 63-year-old James Eaton of Cassopolis, could not stop and the vehicle went across Calvin Hill Street, where it crashed into a ditch.

The passenger in the ehicle, 63-year-old Mary Eaton of Cassopolis, suffered injuries that were not life-threatening and was taken to Elkhart General Hospital.

The sheriff's office is continuing its investigation into the cause of the wreck.
