News: Woman sentenced for fatal drunk driving crash in Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, NM -  A woman was sentenced to prison last week for a fatal drunk driving accident in Albuquerque in May 2021.

According to KRQE, Jennifer Munoz was sentenced to 10 years behind bars for the crash that took place in the area of Unser Boulevard and Tower Road.  Authorities said Munoz was driving under the influence when she went through a red light and crashed into a car driven by Janelle Katesigwa.  Katesigwa, who was driving to work at the time, was killed in the wreck.

It was later determined that Munoz was driving nearly 90 miles per hour in a 35 miles per zone prior to the accident.  Police said her blood alcohol level was nearly twice the legal limit.

The sentence imposed on Munoz followed a plea arrangement in which she pleaded guilty to homicide by vehicle while intoxicated, our Albuquerque car accident attorney adds.
