News: Man arrested after crashing into building in Roswell

ROSWELL, NM - A man was arrested following a car crash in Roswell earlier this month, according to a report in the Roswell Daily Record.

Police said 39-year-old Steven Montes crashed into the side of a brick building at 910-A West Hobbs Street March 11 following a high-speed chase.  The pursuit began after Montes failed to stop at an intersection and did not stop for an attempted traffic stop, according to police.

After speeding away and eventually crashing into the building, Montes was seen climbing out of the window of his vehicle and running across a parking lot, but police officers managed to tackle him and take him into custody.

No injuries were reported in the crash, but it was later discovered that Montes had been shot in the arm.  Police said they found a pistol and a large amount of drugs in his vehicle.  He now faces multiple charges, including aggravated fleeing a law enforcement officer, reckless driving, resisting, evading or obstructing a law enforcement officer, and trafficking a controlled substance, our Albuquerque car accident attorney adds.
