LEA CO., NM - A woman was killed, and five others, including two children, were hospitalized on Saturday following a 3-vehicle crash northeast of Lovington.
According to a report by KCBD, the incident occurred at the intersection of US-82 and Prairieview Road at about 7 p.m.
Responding officers say a Ford pickup truck was passing through the intersection when it was hit by a southbound Chevrolet Tahoe. A Ford Escape then slammed into the rear of the Tahoe.
A passenger in the pickup, Melinda Kay Shaw, 58, suffered fatal injuries in the crash. The pickup's driver and 10-year-old passenger were flown to a Lubbock hospital with unspecified injuries. All three occupants of the Tahoe, ages 12, 38, and 41, were also transported by air to a hospital in Lubbock.
