Multi-vehicle crash in downtown Indianapolis kills 1, injures 3

INDIANAPOLIS, IN - Three vehicles, including a semi-truck, were involved in a deadly collision early Saturday morning in downtown Indianapolis.

According to WRTV, the incident occurred in the area of Madison Avenue and East McCarty Street at about 3:30 a.m.  Indianapolis police learned that the driver of a Nissan was heading south on Madison Avenue and went through a red light at at the intersection.

The Nissan crashed into a Kia. which had a green light while going east on East McCarty Street.  The impact caused the Kia to rotate and hit a semi that was stopped at a red light after exiting Interstate 70 onto Madison Avenue.

A 37-year-old man was killed in the wreck.  Three other people were injured and transported to an area hospital, where two of them were listed in critical condition while one was in stable condition.

The I-70 exit to Madison Avenue and East McCarty Street was closed for several hours for the accident response and investigation.
