MISHAWAKA, IN - The St. Joseph County Police Department is investigating a fatal car wreck that occurred near Mishawaka on Saturday morning.
The South Bend Tribune reports police officers were called to the area of Inwood Road and Hickory Road at about 11:20 a.m. Authorities learned that a driver had been speeding and drove off the roadway. The vehicle went through a wooded area and crashed into multiple trees.
The driver, identified as 33-year-old Hetherwick Malcom Kamwendo, was found dead at the scene. No one else was in the vehicle.
Police said Kamwendo showed no initial signs of intoxication or impairment.
