PAW PAW, MI - An accident in Van Buren County on Saturday night claimed the life of a motorcycle rider, authorities said.
According to a WSBT report, the motorcyclist crashed on County Road 653 near 38th Avenue in Antwerp Township. Investigators with the Van Buren County Sheriff's Office learned that the man was riding south at about 10:15 p.m. when he drifted off the roadway, went onto the shoulder, and collided with a mailbox.
The motorcyclist, a 47-year-old man from Paw Paw, fell off the bike. He was pronounced dead after being transported to Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo. Deputies said the victim was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The sheriff's office is continuing its investigation into the fatal wreck.
