Motorcyclist dies after crashing into ambulance in Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, NM - A motorcycle rider died after a collision in Albuquerque on Saturday afternoon, police said.

According to a KRQE report, the incident involved an ambulance and happened at the intersection of Central Avenue and Juan Tabo Boulevard at about 2:30 p.m.  

Investigators learned that the ambulance was going south on Juan Tabo Boulevard with its lights and siren activated, and proceeded to go through the intersection at a slow rate of speed.   Video showed that the motorcyclist did not slow down while entering the intersection and crashed into the passenger door of the ambulance..

The motorcyclist, whose name was not released, was pronounced dead at a local hospital.  The incident remains under investigation by the Albuquerque Police Department's fatal crash unit.
