Monticello woman dies in motorcycle accident near Battle Ground

BATTLE GROUND, IN - The Tippecanoe County Sheriff's Office released details of a fatal motorcycle accident that took place on Sunday morning.

According to WTHR, a woman was riding a motorcycle south on Tyler Road near Battle Ground when the incident happened sometime before 11:30 a.m. Investigators determined that the motorcyclist was unable to negotiate a curve, went off the right side of the roadway and crashed into a field.

The rider, identified as 68-year-old Joyce Gunther of Monticello, Indiana, died after being taken to IU Methodist in Indianapolis. She was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, authorities said.

The incident shut down Tyler Road for about two hours for the investigation by the sheriff's office.
