INDIANAPOLIS, IN - A railroad accident on the east side of Indianapolis Saturday night left a man dead, police said.
In a post on X. WXIN reported that the incident occurred in the 5700 block of E. 34th Street near N. Arlington Avenue shortly before 8:25 p.m. An investigation by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department indicated that the driver of a four-door Audi attempted to go around a crossing arm on the railroad tracks when the car was hit by the front of an oncoming train. The impact caused the vehicle to spin into nearby woods.
The Audi driver, a man in his mid to late 30s, died at the scene. The IMPD's fatal crash investigation team responded to the scene along with IMPD officers.
