Man killed in tractor accident on Garrett Road in Cass County

CASS COUNTY, MI - An investigation is underway into a fatal farm tractor accident that took place in Cass County on Saturday afternoon.

A report by WZZM states that the incident happened on Garrett Road north of Middle Crossing Road in Silver Creek Township.

The Cass County Sheriff's Office said a man was on a tractor pulling farm equipment shortly before 12:05 p.m. when he lost control and the vehicle jackknifed. The driver was ejected from the cab and the tractor then rolled over him.

The driver died at the scene and was identified as 23-year-old Nathan Scherer. The sheriff's office was assisted at the scene by the Indian Lake Fire Department and the Pokagon Tribal Police.
