TEXICO, NM - A railroad accident in Curry County last week left a man critically injured, authorities said.
The Eastern New Mexico News reports the crash took place Oct. 27 at the Garwood Street crossing behind a convenience store.
According to the Curry County Sheriff, a pickup truck was parked on the railroad tracks between the crossing arms at about 7:30 a.m. The BNSF train could not stop in time and hit the pickup.
The truck driver, identified as 26-year-old Andres Rodriguez of Texico, was found in his vehicle on the tracks 400 feet away from the impact. He was reported in stable condition after being taken to a hospital in Amarillo. No one on the train crew was injured.
Crossings in the area for about two hours as a result of the incident.
