SANTA FE, NM - Authorities said they now have a suspect in connection with a fatal hit-and-run incident in Santa Fe, the Santa Fe New Mexican reports.
Felony homicide charges were filed against 29-year-old Mario Mendez, according to the Santa Fe County Sheriff's Office.
The incident happened Oct. 15 off Paseo de Nopal. Mendez, a Santa Fe, resident, allegedly struck a woman and her two children with his vehicle. The woman, 43-year-old Monique Maes, was killed while the children were injured.
The vehicle involved in the crash was found abandoned several miles away from the scene, the sheriff's office said.
