LAS CRUCES, NM - A man has been arrested in connection with a deadly crash at a motel in Las Cruces last Friday morning, KRQE reports.
The incident occurred at the Imperial Sky Motel on West Picacho Avenue. Investigators determined that the driver of a Chevrolet Suburban, 22-year-old Alan Leyva-Vasquez, was attempting to leave the complex at about 11:30 a.m. but reversed and drove into a room.
Two people were struck by the vehicle. One was a 55-year-woman who died at the scene, identified as Kari J. Scholin. The other person was a 59-year-old man who sustained minor injuries.
Leyva-Vasquez was arrested and charged with one felony count of vehicular homicide. He was booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center.
