VAN BUREN COUNTY, MI - A multi-vehicle collision in Van Buren Couny Tuesday afternoon claimed the life of an elderly driver, according to ABC57.
It happened at the intersection of County Road 657 and 58th Avenue, where the Van Buren County Sheriff's Department was called to the scene at about 3:15 p.m.
An initial investigation revealed that the driver of a Ford F-150 was headed east o 58th Avenue and did not stop at a stop sign at the intersection. The Ford was then t-boned by a northbound Chevy Silverado, causing the Ford to collide with a Nissan NV200 work van that was stopped at a stop sign.
The Ford driver, a 96-year-old man, was partially ejected and pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a seat belt, the sheriff's deparatment said. The driver and passenger of the Chevy were taken to the hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening. The Nissan driver was not injured.
Investigators do not believe alcohol was a contributing factor in the wreck.
