PUTNAM COUNTY, IN - A driver died after his car collided with a pickup truck in Putnam County on Wednesday afternoon, Indiana State Police said.

According to WTHR, the vehicles crashed in the area of U.S. 40 and State Road 240 at about 4:20 p.m.  The initial investigation determined that the driver of a 2004 Lexus was attempting go from southbound State Road 240 to eastbound U.S. 40 but did not see a 2021 Ford pickup truck that was heading west on U.S. 40.

The driver of the Lexus, identified as 67-year-old Kent Smith of Coatesville, Indiana, died at the scene.  ISP is investigating the crash and said that at this point it does not appear that drugs or alcohol were contributing factors.
