MONTCALM COUNTY, MI - Authorities said two vehicles were involved in a fatal wreck in Montcalm County on Friday afternoon.
According to WZZM, the accident happened in Pine Township shortly after 7:30 p.m. The Montcalm County Sheriff's Office said the driver of a GMC pickup truck was headed east on West Stanton Road and attempting to pass another vehicle near North Johnson Road when the GMC collided head-on with a Kia.
A 41-year-old woman who was a passenger in the Kia was killed, while the Kia driver, a 54-year-old woman, was hospitalized with major injuries. Both were from Greenville.
The pickup truck driver, a 54-year-old man from Grand Rapids, suffered major injuries and was transported to a hospital in the Grand Rapids area.
Alcohol was believed to have been a contributing factor in the crash, which closed W Stanton Road near the scene for about three hours.
