Head-on accident in Tippecanoe County leaves both drivers dead

INDIANAPOLIS, IN - A two-vehicle collision in Tippecanoe County on Monday afternoon claimed the lives of both drivers, WTHR reported.

The incident took place along West County Road 800 South near West Point, where the Tippecanoe County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene at about 5 p.m.

According to the sheriff's office, 28-year-old Nathanial Phipps of Covington was driving a Chevy Blazer westbound when he crossed over the center line.  The Blazer crashed head-on into a Toyota Prius driven by 46-year-old Mihai Murineanu of Crawfordsville.

The impact caused the Blazer to flip and sent the Prius into a nearby cornfield.  Both drivers died in the wreck.  No one else was in either vehicle.

Investigators are trying to determine the cause of the accident.
