ALBUQUERQUE, NM - A judge sentenced a former Metropolitan Detention Center guard in connection with a fatal crash that took place in Albuquerque last year, reports the Albuquerque Journal.
34-year-old Christopher Facey was sentenced to two years in prison for the incident at the Santa Fe Village Dog Park on Jan. 13, 2024.
Facey pleaded guilty to the charge of knowingly leaving the scene of an accident that killed Guadalupe Maldonado . He was initially charged with second-degree murder.
Police said Facey was sitting in his truck with Maldonado's wife when the two were confronted by Maldonado. According to the invesetigation, Facey ran over Guadalupe Maldonado with the truck and drove away from the scene. Maldonado died of his injuries.
Facey could have received up to six years in prison at the sentencing.
