INDIANAPOLIS, IN - A driver slammed into the patrol car of Indiana State Police trooper on Interstate 465 in Indianapolis, according to a WRTV report.
The incident happened early Saturday morning along I-465 eastbound near U.S. 31 and S East Street. ISP said the trooper was on the scene at about 3:15 a.m. investigating a previous multi-vehicle accident in a construction zone.
While the trooper was outside his patrol car, his vehicle was struck by another driver, causing the patrol car to roll forward and hit the trooper.
The trooper and the driver of the vehicle were taken to an area hospital, where the trooper was treated and released. There was no word on the condition of the driver.
State police believe alcohol was a contributing factor in the incident.
