Driver killed in multi-vehicle accident north of Grand Rapids

PLAINFIELD TOWNSHIP, MI - Michigan State Police released details of a deadly accident that occurred in Plainfield Township on Monday afternoon.

According to MLive.com, the wreck took place at the intersection of Northland Drive and Plainfield Avenue near Grand Rapids at about 3:30 p.m.  MSP said a driver sideswiped multiple vehicles on Northland Drive that were waiting in the lane to make a left turn onto Plainfield Avenue.  One of those vehicles was pushed into oncoming traffic after being struck from behind.

The driver of the first vehicle that sideswiped the others was pronounced dead at the scene.  The victim's idenity was not immediately released.

Northland Drive was shut down near the scene for the crash investigation.
