PORTAGE, IN - Indiana State Police were at the scene of a fatal collision between an SUV and a semi-truck in Porter County on Monday night.
According to a report by WISH, the accident happened along Interstate 94 east of State Road 49. Investigators determined that the driver of a Toyota Rav4 SUV was traveling at high speed in the far left lane of I-94 at about 7:19 p.m. The driver changed lanes at the same time that the driver of a semi-truck that had been parked on the right shoulder was entering back into the right lane.
The SUV crashed into the back of the semi and the SUV driver, who was trapped in the vehicle after the wreck, was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim's name was not released. The truck driver was not injured.
