ALBUQUERQUE, NM - Albuquerque policle said a driver died in a pickup truck accident on Interstate 40 Tuesday morning,
KRQE rpeorted details of the incident, which occurred on westbound I-40 near Juan Tabo Boulevard, in the area of the Eubank exit. Police arrived on the scene at about 3 a.m. and learned that the driver of a Ford pickup truck struck a highway barrier and overturned. The driver, whose name was not released, was found dead. No one else was in the vehicle, and no other vehicles were involved.
Witnesses told police the Ford was going at a normal speed, then drifted across all lanes of traffic and hit the barrier. Investigators do not believe speed or driver impairment contributed to the wreck.
Initial evidence indicated a possible malfuction involving the vehicle, according to police, but additional evidence pointed to possible driver error from a medical condition.
