Driver dies after train collides with vehicle in Berrien County

BERRIEN COUNTY, MI - Police are investigating a fatal collision between a train and a car that occurred in Berrien County on Wednesday afternoon.

According to a report by MLive.com, the incident happened on the 5300 block of St. Joseph Avenue.  Investigators said a driver was entering a private driveway at his home when his vehicle was hit by a CSX freight train heading north.  The driver, a 28-year-old man from Stevensville whose name was not released, died after being taken to an area hospital.

Police said the railroad crosses the driveway in that area and there are no crossing arms or other traffic control devices there.
