Driver dies after crashing into pond in northeast Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS, IN - Police and firefighters were called to the scene of a deadly crash in Indianapolis on Monday morning, WTHR reports.

Authorities said a truck crashed into a pond in the vicinity of North German Church Road and 42nd Street on the city's northeast side at about 7 a.m.

The driver was pulled from the vehicle and pronounced dead after being taken to an area hospital.  The cause of the crash is under investigation by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.

Also responding were Lawrence police and firefighters, Indianapolis firefighters, and Fishers police.
