LAPORTE COUNTY, IN - A single-vehicle accident in LaPorte County early Sunday morning left a driver dead, authorities said.
According to WBND, the incident occurred on the 8400 north block of County Road 500 East. An investigation by the LaPorte County Sheriff's Office determined that the driver of a Buick Century was going north shortly before 2:05 a.m. when the vehicle went off the east side of the roadway.
The Buick then re-entered the road, went across both lanes, traveled off the west side of the roadway, and crashed into a tree. The driver died at the scene, and was identified as 29-year-old Brandy B. Hardway of Buchanan, Michigan.
The sheriff's office was awaiting toxicology results as part of its investigation.
