TULAROSA, NM - A single-vehicle accident on US Highway 70 in New Mexico Friday left a woman dead and a child injured, according to a KVIA report.
The crash happened along a stretch of the highway between Tularosa and Ruidoso. Investigators said 24-year-old Shannon Valdez was behind the wheel when her car went off the roadway, crossed the center median and rolled several times.
Valdez was killed in the wreck while a boy in the car with her was taken to an area hospital. There was no immediate word on his condition.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of the wreck.
