Collision involving semi on Interstate 65 injures 1, snarls traffic

INDIANAPOLIS, IN - One person was injured when two semi-trucks and a passenger vehicle were involved in a collision on Interstate 65 Thursday morning, according to Fox59.

Indiana State Police and area fire departments were dispatched to the crash, which occurred on I-65 southbound at mile marker 116 at 9:15 a.m.  

The Pike Township Fire Department reported that a small car ended up sandwiched between two semi-trucks.  Two people were entrapped in the wreck and were safely extricated.  The one injured victim was taken to an area hospital, but no details were released on the person's condition. 

Southbound traffic on I-65 was reported to be at a standstill while the accident scene was being cleared.  Within an hour, the left lane had reopened but the two right lanes remained closed for at least another hour.
