Chaves County Sheriff's deputy injured in collision with semi-truck

ROSWELL, NM - The Chaves County Sheriff's Office said one of their deputies was injured in a crash involving a semi-trailer last week.

According to the office's Facebook post, the incident happened Thursday at 11:40 a.m. at the Intersection of SE Main Street and Brasher Road in Roswell.  The deputy was responding to assist officers involved in a shooting incident near Roswell Relief Route / South Main Street.

Video showed the deputy was headed south on SE Main Street and collided with a semi-tractor-trailer going east on Brasher Road.  Citizens who were stopped at the intersection rendered aid to both the deputy and the truck driver.

The deputy was then pulled from the patrol truck through a side door and taken to an area hospital.  He was expected to be released within a few days.

The sheriff's office said, "We are thankful that the injuries to the deputy & the semi driver are not more severe", and thanked everyone who assisted with the incident.
