Alleged drunk driver charged in fatal crash in South Bend

SOUTH BEND, IN - An alleged drunk driver is facing charges in connection with a fatal wreck that occurred in South Bend last Wednesday evening, reports WBND.

Police said the driver of a passenger vehicle went through a red light at the intersection of Ironwood Drive and Jefferson Boulevard at about 7:35 p.m.  The vehicle slammed into another car, causing it to overturn and crash into a tree.   The driver of the second car, identified as 40-year-old Forest Gibbs of South Bend, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The first driver, 35-year-old Jatonya Pringle, was arrested on charges of reckless homicide and operating a vehicle while intoxicated.  Pringle was booked into the St. Joseph County jail.
