ALBUQUERQUE, NM - Police are investigating an accident in northeast Albuquerque that may have been linked to motorcycle racing.
According to a KRQE report, the crash occurred in the area of Tramway Boulevard NE and Cloudview Avenue NE Sunday morning at about 2 a.m. Responding officers said that two motorcyclists were possibly racing as they travelled south on Tramway Boulevard at high speeds.
One of the riders lost control of the bike and collided with a guardrail. That person was listed in critical condition after being taken to an area hospital. The other motorcyclist fled the scene before their identity could be ascertained by police.
Investigators said speed was a contributing factor in the incident, but there was no word yet on whether impairment was involved.
