Accident shuts down portion of Interstate 40 in Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, NM - Drivers encountered rush-hour delays due to a crash on Interstate 40 in Albuquerque during Tuesday morning's commute, KOAT reported.

According to police, the accident occurred on I-40 in the vicinity of Eubank Boulevard at about 5 a.m.  All westbound lanes of the interstate were shut down at the exit for Eubank Boulevard.

The traffic delays stretched past Juan Tabo Boulevard while the scene was being cleared.  I-40 was reopened about two hours later.  There was no immediate word on whether anyone had been injured.
