INDIANAPOLIS, IN - A collision involving an IndyGo bus in downtown Indianapolis sent seven people to the hospital on Monday morning, authorities said.
According to WXIN, the incident occurred at the intersection of W. 9th Street and N. Capitol Avenue at about 11:51 a.m.
Witnesses told the Indianapolis Fire Department that the bus and a Kia were both going south on Capitol Avenue when the driver of the car tried to make a left turn. The Kia driver went across the bus lane without realizing that the bus was there, resulting in a crash.
The Kia driver was extricated after being trapped in the car, and was listed in serious condition at an area hospital.
Six of the nine people on the IndyGo bus were taken to area hospitals with injuries that were not life-threatening.
