INDIANAPOLIS, IN - The Indianapolis Fire Department said four of its firefighters were injured in a crash while responding to a previous wreck on Saturday, the Indianapolis Star reports.
In the first incident, the driver of a sedan died after colliding with a semi-truck that was parked in the area of 30th Street and Massachusetts Avenue shortly before 11:30 a.m.
The firetruck was headed to the scene traveling west of 30th Street when the driver tried to veer around traffic that had slowed as well as a wide load being escorted by Indiana State Police. The firetruck crashed and flipped over.
Two firefighters were hospitalized with serious injuries, while two others were treated and released from the hospital.
