4 hurt in collision involving Indiana Department of Corrections van

PUTNAMVILLE, IN - Four people were hospitalized Wednesday afternoon following a crash involving an Indiana Department of Correction van, WXIN reports.

The accident took place on US-231 near Jackson Street in Greencastle, Putnam County.   According to Indiana State Police, a 47-year-old Greencastle man was driving a 2024 GMC pickup truck north at about 4 p.m. when he drifted to the south side of the road and crashed into the corrections van head-on.

Four people were flown to hospitals in Indianapolis with injuries that were regarded as serious but not life-threatening.  They were the driver of the pickup, the driver of the DOC van, an additional corrections officer in the van, and one inmate.
