INDIANAPOLIS, IN - Authorities said a driver who had been trying to elude state troopers was involved in a fatal wreck on the east side of Indianapolis on Tuesday night, according to WISH.
Indiana State Police attempted a traffic stop on a Dodge Challenger for reckless driving shortly after 9:30 p.m. but said the driver refused to comply.
State troopers set out in pursuit of the vehicle but eventually called it off after the chase became too difficult.
A short time later, ISP said the Dodge driver was still going at high speed, went through a red light, and crashed into another vehicle in the area of 10th Street and Mitthoeffer Road.
Two passengers in the Dodge and the driver of the other vehicle were killed in the collision. Three other people were critically injured. The driver of the Dodge, who sustained minor injuries, was arrested on preliminary charges of resisting law enforcement causing death.
